Hi David. I know little about the technical aspects of this issue, and you seem to have these well covered.
I understand that you have a voltage drop between the hot (supply) side of your wire and its arrival at the CLP.
It might be worthwhile investigating whether there's been some rodent action.

I did check for this so far as i was able and there was nothing obvious in the parts of the loom accessible from the boot area. after that it disappears into the car interior. i am going to accept the issue and bypass whatever it is with a direct run.

Full marks for perseverance and a thorough investigation. When I read stuff like this post, I live in dread of it happening to my car, as David’s skills are well above my pay grade and I’d be stumped!

Current mods: solar sun roof, 20mm rear spacers, 15 mm on front, red brembo callipers, 6k headlights, rear view camera, engine remap, alloy dash dial rings, alloy navi rings, tt/phaeton pedal upgrade, (and custom matching foot rest) dension ipod interface & parrot hands free kit (both fully hidden), av input, tv in motion switched thro' PF switch in blanking plug right of steering column, Audi 'quattro' sill covers, repositioned centre console switches, radio clock, .
Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

Thats kind of you to say so Jim, but it took me a long time to sort out the logic and think about what to check - which was aided by some help from MJ.

Just about to go and rig the new supply now.
