Non Starter
Hi All.
Had my S8 D2 for maybe 3mths now. All has been great. Had the cambelt, waterpump, pullies etc changed as the belt was over due. Running sweet and all fine. Went to start it yesterday, only click from the starter... Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance |

Power junction box underneath the right chassis leg. Pop the wheel off and there is a small cover attached just aft of the front half of the arch liner. The junction box is behind here and has probably disintegrated. This can lead to either not charging the battery properly, not getting enough current from the battery to the starter, or usually both.

Hi MK.
Well, wheel off and all arch liners off. Found the connection boox and looks all fine form the outside. Looking in good condition. It looks like a sealed unit? please advise if you can...working on it now. Regards |

So the connector...I can see has a clipped top to it.
It box is full of grease and looks like new. Taken the starter cable off and cleaned both ends not much corrosion on those to be honest. Still nothing. I have check with VCDS...When selecting gears I can see it knows which gear it is in and it correctly says in line with position of selector for don't think it can be the selector switch? A bit stuck now.....I am feeling something obvious..but I am missing it. Has it go a factory immobilizer? That's what it 'feels' like... now.. |

If the starter clicks when trying to start but does not turn over engine it has to be either faulty starter, not enough power to the starter or seized /locked engine.
It does have factory immobiliser but that does not stop starter from working, only cuts spark/fuel. If you try to start it quickly after turning on ignition it will start and run for about 2 seconds before it cuts out if it was immobiliser problem.
