Default Simple question.

How often do you need to change the cam belt on an S8? Over here I'm being told anything from 60 to 120,000 kilometres.

Its down at 60 or 80k (miles) - i cant remember exactly - in the service manual. Most would suggest 60k miles anyway.

There's a time element too. I think it's 6 years. Mine's just had its second belt at about 140K miles and twelve years old.

I have a copy of a detailed Audi service schedule from 1999 that shows 105,000 miles (168,000km).
That same schedule has oil changes every 7500 miles. Most regular stuff every 15000.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Ainarssems is right, 120,000km in service booklet, no time duration given.
Mine was replaced in 2006 at 116,000km, I had it changed again at 198,000km in 2014, 8 years later. I thought it still looked ok, it didn't look decayed or cracking, but what do I know. I think 8 years is a good time limit to use, I read it before for other cars.

Thanks guys. Mine was changed three years ago and since then it has done about 62000 kilometres, which is about 39000 miles. Still got some life in it yet. They use scare tactics big time over here. Audi Dubai said that it must be change every 60000 kilometres or else the engine will blow up.
