Trackers. Yes or No?
Before I bought my new car I did a HPI check and it listed that the car had a tracker fitted.
I contacted the tracker people today who said the tracker was fitted in 06 but was only active for one year. They asked if I would like to activate it for the yearly price but I would also need to have it inspected. Inspection is £99, then a yearly subscription of £130 or a life of the car subscription of £350. I asked if I can have it removed but they did not seem keen on having that answered, he made out that it was not possible but it will still cost me the price of inspection. What's your general thoughts or experience on trackers?

They will be cagey about removing the tracker, it depends on who installed it and how well its been done. They are installed in random locations throughout the car, so to remove it they would need to remove a lot of the interior to find it.
Worth activating, most likely not now as the cars value diminishes and you'll not get the subscription fee back in reduced insurance premium.

That's my thinking.
Spending out about £400 on turning tracker on and not seeing any benefit on my insurance. I need to contact them and see if they do offer any discount but I doubt it. I would like it removed. I don't like random bits of tech in the car that's not being used. Paranoid of it breaking down and causing issues with the car at a later date.

nobody will know were it is fitted only the original installer
i have one on mine too dont worry about it just pretend its not there it wont cause you any problems

I had 3 random cables in the left hand cubby hole in my boot.
One of them went through the rear vent and in to the bumper area. So I removed the bumper to find out what that cable was and it turned out to be the aerial for the tracker. I traced it back to the other 2 cables, which then went on to the tracker. Since the boot was ripped apart I thought it was a good time to remove the tracker since I'm not going to use it. Bumper off with the aerial.  Tracker removed.  One tracker.  One tracker apart.

I'm a bit shocked at the size of that - thought that trackers would be smaller than that and easier to hide due to being smaller! Lol

I have a tracker, it HALFED the insurance cost for my M3 - frankly I'd rather not get it back it some scroat took it, but half price is half price, about £350 per year insurance saving

I was torn between not getting back or yearly savings.
I went with the not getting it back. The installation of the tracker was poor.  As you can see, that's the cables for the tracker.
