Yep, this car has ACC from what I could tell. Its a lot of car for £8K. Is the lack of service history a concern? I could just get it serviced, do the 20K miles I am expecting to do in 6 months and if I no longer need the car, sell it on.

Lovely interior on this (IMHO) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-AUDI-...gAAOSwQTVWBpOx pity its only a 3.0 TDI.
Wouldn't surprise me if that car you're looking at has a heated steering wheel, which would be a bit more costly to replace.

In reality, I think a lack of history wont be a problem for the car, but will cause you hassle on resale, especially with the high miles. Might be worth trying to chisel a bit more discount with that in mind. Not many people buy cars > 150K miles, and even less touch cars with patchy history. Its just the way people think. The great spec will only get you so far on resale.

But basically, you want my old car which Oli now has as it sounds like it ticks every box and then some:

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7022

My hand still hurts a little from when Oli nearly bit my arm off when I suggested it might be coming up for sale lol, so I don't think you'll get him to part with it anytime soon.

John, a forum member here, recently added a paddle shift wheel, car just needed to be coded - so a simple job. As IT said, can be costly if it's a heated wheel.

That's interesting. this 2008 car doesnt have it. I felt around the back, on the one side it seemed that there was nothing there, on the other I was sure there was an indenture, as it something should have been there.

There are other 4.2 TDi SE models with non sport suspension and 4 spoke steering wheels on AT and ebay that are without the paddle shifts.

So it cant be standard.

How do I know if the car has sport suspension? When I played with the ride height options, I think it gave an option called sport or something similar. Would that be it? I take it, its not standard?

Keep in mind too, this car, with all the options is £8K. There are cars costing more for less spec, does this make up the lack of SH?

No, its not standard. I've just read the brochure..... I confess most of my cars are sports, where it is.....

But on the regular SE, it isn't.... Bit of a poor show.

There is also a 4 spoke heated non-tiptronic wheel, so it could still be heated.

The suspension screen would quite clearly say 'sport' at the top if it were the sport suspension. The non-sport suspension is very comfortable, but considerably more wallowy.

I just had a sinister thought. I've never seen a steering wheel / drivers seat bolster look quite that worn on an A8 before. I wonder with the gap in history if there's any chance its been clocked.... Admittedly you'd normally clock things down quite a bit lower, but worth bearing in mind.

You can call the Audi Spec Check service and they will give you the factory sales order of spec and any history on Audis records. Very worth while doing.

To a minority of people yes. But the majority would consider something like this a big purchase and would go with the flow expecting FSH etc.

It just cuts down your potential punters at the end of the day. Doesn't mean it wont sell, will just take longer or fetch less money.
