Wheel Bearing Help
Hello Team,
I have to replace my front drivers side wheel bearing. It makes noise at 100kph (exact highway speed here) as the inner seal has failed and it is shedding grease. I got a new bearing with the hub pressed in, but it didn’t fit. Im wondering if the rear bearing is the same as the front? Im getting conflicting info. I specifically ordered the front bearing but perhaps they sent me a rear one? Or simply one for a different audi. Thanks, Mike

The bearings are different between front and rear. Front is 92mm, rear is 82mm I think. The part numbers are vexingly close - 4E0498625B for the front, 4E0598625 rear, so its possible someone just got them mixed up.

As a follow up,
I am still getting a vibration and noise at highway speed. It feels like a wheel weight is off but sounds like bearing noise. The vibration is felt through the pedals and remains even if the driveline is put into neutral. I have changed; Brake rotors and pads Wheels front to rear (including trying the spare) A wheel bearing Gearbox fluid - many times (due to other leak) front engine torque mount ALL suspension arms Tie rods inner and outer. Sway bar bushes and end links. I am at a total loss. I just want this car to be smooth like it used to be. Do driveshafts go bad in these?

Not knowing what noise or how you are feeling this vibration makes it difficult to pinpoint however, vibration at speed not felt on the steering can likely be rear wheel balance or wheel / tyre distortion issue, or rear wheel bearing issue, in some cases front wheel balance or alignment issues can cause vibration and shimmy felt on the steering at around 60-65mph. With so many bits whizzing about it can be really Frustrating to pinpoint some if these! Please let’s know how you get on! Regards,
