Battery box underwater!!!
What a nightmare.... Just went to the S8 which I haven't driven for about a month and it wouldn't unlock so I assumed the battery was flat. Opened the boot and turns out the battery was underwater.
I removed some of the trims and the blue sunroof drain pipe was unplugged from its socket I think the battery is cocked as its probably been shorting its self for good knows how long but hopefully nothing else is damaged... |

Oops - that's not ideal! Good job there's not much else in there to cause any issues (hopefully!)

Presumably it was just the base of the battery that was underwater? That may not be terminal (if you pardon the pun...), as the electrical contacts are on the top of the battery unit, so they may be fine.
I had this situation with mine for a while, and it was fine...

No unfortunately the entire thing was flooded to the brim, the connectors have corroded and when i put my hand in there to unbolt them i felt a tinge of current. Once I lifted the battery out there was around 2l of mirky water left in the box.
Its unlucky because the car is parked at a slight angle and before some water used to gather in the spare wheel well but now that its parked like this its been filling the battery box up. I'm just hoping it hasnt fried anything but who knows. Will put the spare battery on tomorrow to see how it goes. I'm also trying to find the source of a water gathering at the passenger side rear seat footwell. This is my 3rd S8 and it still amazes me how much they can leak! |

They don't leak - it's always clogged drains!
Rear footwell is probably HVAC drains. Once you clear those, do a couple of violent stops down a steep hill to force any remaining water from the under floor vents tp into the HVAC core to drain!

Has it got a sunroof? The rear drains rundown the rear quater panel, could be disconnected maybe. Drill a hole in the battery box

Drilling a hole is a bit drastic!
Once he plugs his sunroof drain back in and ensures the external nipple isn't blocked, it won't fill up with water again!
