Guys, why not just fit P21W CREE LED bulbs???
OEM setup/position, no cutting grills, no illegality, and if bridged with side lights and coded via VCDS as LED DRLs they will dim with main beam and no errors

That's exactly what I've got on mine except they are the 80W Cree bulbs instead, looks very similar to the W12 / S8 DRLs

So much easier in my opinion plus I've got a mixed feeling about the aftermarket LED strips, look on A8 especially, BUT it is all down to what you like guys.

I'd love to see the 80W CREE in action.
I have the 50W CREEs on mine.

Guys, here is a guide on how to do it.
AVOID the bulbs yellow fosfor strip, go full CREE LEDs like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-50w-WHI...item234b73bee8

50W and 80W lights without any cooling, how hot are they getting?

I have some LED bulbs for main lights 30W ETI flip chip with a huge heatsink and they get very hot in couple of minutes. They also have internal driver and temperature control so that when they reach 80C they reduce current to 60%. In real life it is about half way on my 7.5m journey to work. I also have 40W CREE bulbs with integrated fan which also get very hot in couple minutes even with fan. I don't think these have thermal protection.

ETI flip chip

Cheers Neil this is Gud, I'll try them on next time, they look significantly better brighter than 50W ones.

I haven't experienced any heat problems I'm what, two years now.
I dint think they even have any resistors which would generate excessive heat.
