Similar settings to yours. I haven't experimented much to be honest. This was partly guesswork and partly a need to keep the total power consumption below the PSUs rating.

The prices on D3 are crazy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bitmain-An...53.m1438.l2649

L3+ should be available today here https://www.antminerdistribution.com/antminer-l3-plus/ from 10:00 CET for EUR2899

Wow, 8K!

The L3s sell for around 4K on Ebay too.

I'm hoping we'll get a despatch notification for our L3 orders soon. Shouldn't be too long now. And hopefully the Litecoin price will continue rising in the meantime!

There are several websites selling D3's at tempting prices but the websites have been registered in last month so most likely scams. I have however found a seller on Alibaba that is happy to sell D3 for $2600 including power supply from the end of November batch. I understand that many people are not familiar with Alibaba and would avoid to use it but I have used it lot of times , mostly for obsolete electronic parts that are pretty much unavailable or very expensive elsewhere and have not had any issues. They are owners of Aliexpress and while I have had some issues on Aliexpress in the past they have been resolved to my satisfaction. They have Escrow like payment system where seller only gets money after I have confirmed goods received in good order or if the certain time passes without complains from buyer. This period can be extended if both parties agree like for preorder items or items lost in post. I feel that Alibabas buyer protection is at least as good as ebay/paypal if not better. It's also a lot bigger than ebay, if the ebays value is about 36 billion, Alibaba is over 400 billion.

Anyway I am just waiting to hear back from seller about shipping costs and due to time difference it may take some time. The question is do I order 1 or 2, I mean I would like to have much more but I don't think I can afford to loose more money than cost of 2 if in the unlikely event X11 mining goes down the drain.

I have contacted several other sellers on Alibaba as well but have not got responses from them yet.

If anybody wants to have a look this is the one I am looking at: https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...689116732.html

Interesting. Please keep me updated on the responses. I may consider buying one too.

I've used both AliExpress and Alibaba on numerous occasions for electronic parts/components too. I bought some hard-to-find depletion-mode MOSFETs from one seller that turned out to be cheap Bipolar transistors with fake model number markings. They were fairly inexpensive so I never bothered returning them. Apart from that, I've had a pretty good experience buying from them too.

How is this for AMD mining?
2x RX480 8GB, 4x RX580 8GB and 1x RX570 4GB. RX 570 has been the cheapest and most reliable so far, I think it's GPU4 in the black picture below and GPU5 in main Nicehash screen but it's a bit random as they are different order in Wattman, NiceHash and miner screen and it changes on restarts.

That's not bad at all. I'm getting a little less than that from 4 x 1080 Ti cards, which cost over £2K.

What's your power consumption and how stable is it?

The power consumption is between 1150-1350W as it changes over time. the combination of these 7 cards is fairly stable, I don't think it has ever crashed but sometimes I have 1 or 2 cards that change back to default clocks in Wattman and power setting changes from -20% to some random number. It's always one of 480 or 580 card that is affected. 570 has always remained the same. I have 2 more 480 cards which would crash, cause restarts or reset Wattman settings for all cards if I used them in in this configuration and power usage would go over 1700W. But oddly enough they running both together fully stable on my old PC.

570 and 580 cards have been Bios modded memory timings but 480 cards did not take bios mods well so are running on stock Bios. 580 are -10% GPU clock, RAM raised from 2000 to 2100, power -20%, 480 are -10% GPU clock, RAM at 2200 from 2000, power -20%. The 570 is a bit different GPU+10%, RAM from 1750 to 2000, power + 25%.

The seller from Alibaba has gone quite, I guess it's because of weekend so hopefully will get a response on Monday.

My 4 x 1080 rig is pulling just over 1000W, so it sounds like your rig is quite comparatively proportional from an efficiency point of view. I'm guessing your 7 cards were a bit cheaper than my 4 1080s though, so your ROI should be a little faster (although I wonder how they compare in terms of depreciation).

But that's been my experience too with rigs of 5 or more cards, especially AMD cards and even more so where there's a mix of AMD and nVidia. AMD cards can be a little temperamental at times and Wattman's habit of resetting back to factory defaults after a crash is a real annoyance. I'm finding nVidia cards are just so much more plug and play. The tweaking/over-clocking software is better too (you can, for example, adjust all cards from one set of controls), they seem to have fewer driver issues and they benchmark and run more algorithms. For me, any time spent looking for the right drivers or trying to get a rig stable is time I could've spent working on customer's servers, so it's lost earnings. Which is why I'm now leaning more towards 4-card nVidia rigs that are low maintenance and quick to build. Having said that, if AMD release a new card that performs much better than the 1080s, I may consider building some AMD-only rigs too. I'd probably still avoid mixing AMD and nVidia in a single rig though.

Yes nVidia is much more stable, I don't think it has ever crashed apart from initial testing to see how far I can push clock speeds. But AMD did not crash with 4 cards either. It seems the more cards I put together the less stable it is.

The first D3 seller from Alibaba has not got back to me about shipping costs but I have had a couple of responses from other sellers with prices of $2800-3500 with shipping dates mid November and end of November.

I am not sure how long the payout prices will last with several high performance x11 miners hitting market. Network hashrate has already gone up from 15TH/s to 40 TH/s in last month and profitability gone down from nearly £6k to £3.5k per month in last 2 weeks. There are several powerful X11 miners hitting the market Antminer D3 15 GH/s, Innosilicon A5 30GH/s, iBeLink has 2 coming out 11GH/s and 22GH/s, Pinidea 17GH/s.

By the time I get one at the end of November it might be earning just £300 per month.
