no longer a flasher

in an attempt to cure a parasitic drain a short while ago I sought out the alarm and finding the battery had destroyed the circuit board I removed the entire alarm ...no difference at all

the remote locking continued to operate normally ...one flash on locking , two on unlocking

yesterday went to lock the car ....no flash ; tried again , two flashes ; wtf ?
closer investigation showed that , despite the lack of a flash the car locks correctly then unlocks correctly with two flashes

despite the fact that locking /unlocking correctly with flashes since the removal of the alarm could this be connected with the problem ? any ideas anyone ?
