Default A8-Freunde Meet 2010

OK, well a number of you already know about the A8-Freunde, a forum that exists in Germany, primarily for our German friends.

However, they also hold a superb event every year, and the plan is for us to return to them again this year but with a few more cars in tow

The event is being held on the weekend of 14th/15th August, and we're now at the point where we need to think about numbers travelling. If you've not heard about this event then, please do check out the September e-zine available here

I'm hoping to get some discounts from P&O for the ferry crossings, but could do with an idea of numbers who plan to travel, and which port they intend going from (Hull or Dover).

Just for info, the price below is for the trip from Hull:
Outward Hull - Rotterdam Thu 12 Aug 2010 21:00 £148.00
Return Rotterdam - Hull Tue 17 Aug 2010 21:00 £144.00
Includes 1 adult , Car up to 1.8m high

It doesn't include any meals, so these will be extra (£22.45 for all)

If you could let me know where you're planning to go from, it would be most appreciated

A8_Tony - Hull
darrenjoe90 - Hull
Figure11 - Hull
Ben from AVP - Hull

Amar - Dover?

Please copy & paste the list, and add yourself to it too

Tony, I didn't realise but Hull is actually nearer to me then Dover. 140 miles vs 180 miles. The journey from Rotterdam to Erdesee is also 118 miles less then if we sailed to Calais. But return from Hull if I have read that right is £292 vs £50 from Calais...? Will you guys be making a big mileage/fuel saving to justify this extra ££?

However we do it, I'm v. excited.

P.S Are we all coming in our own cars?

amar i think the reason for sailing from hull this year was due to timing and distance. last year i had to drive over to collect tony then we drove down to dover, we then had a short journey over before we were back in the cars and on another 500km journey to edersee. for me the journey took about 24hours with only a short break. if we sail from hull the ship sails overnight so we get a nights sleep on the outward journey and also on the return journey. we have planned for this year to take slightly longer so it will be more relaxed. each of our journeys will be broke up instead of us trying to drive 24 hours in one go.
also tony is coming in his car this year and we need to let him catch up cos he drives like an old man

LOL @ Tony driving like an old man, I do to. I'm a real slowcoatch of a driver and just cruise along, but me and Tony are the ones with the nifty RNS E navigation systems so you guys WILL follow us all day long. HAHA, I will have to find out about sailing from Hull as it will cost me and the other guy I'm coming along with (He lurks on here so may have already seen it) he's on holiday in Dubai at the minute so when he gets back I will have to let you know. I might even sail out of Hull then come back through Calais/Ostend. I dunno. Need to see which one works out worthwhile for me.

The overnight crossing from Hull is fantastic... Park the car up, dump your bags in your berth and hit the bar. There are several restaurants, cinema etc so a whole nights entertainment is ahead of you

bit of an arse when they wake you up at 6am to go for breakkie though

Wouldn't be all bad if I did come via Calais, we could cross paths as seen here...
then carry on with with the two hours remaining to Erdesee.

Hmm, I still haven't decided where I'm sailing out of, call me a cheapskate but I'm finding it hard to justify an extra £245. Will let you know for sure in 1/2 weeks time.
