Default How to check whether the A8 is a LWB or not.

Silly question, but without actually seeing the car in the flesh, how do I know if the car is a LWB version?
I know it should have the badge on the back (A8 L) but if that is missing is there an easy way to tell.
When I had a Phaeton LWB - all the LWB models had a sunroof, and the climate control in the rear between the seats was present (not in the SWB versions)
As I am in the market for one, it would be good to check from the pictures, before going to see one.
Many thanks,

In the D4 the LWB had electric seat adjustments in the rear as standard, also the rear door cards are and easy tel in interior pictures as the ashtray is much elongated

i'm not sure about the LWB having leccy seats as standard, but certainly the door storage bin is elongated on the LWB.

Below are LWB (left) and SWB (right). You can clearly see the different door bins in red, and the huge difference in the transmission tunnel length in green.

Hope that helps.

Default Easiest visual check

For me, the rear window shapes are the easiest exterior visual clue - the SWB is almost square shaped, whereas the LWB is definitely rectangular in shape.

Also, LWBs are pretty rare, I think...

Thanks all - very useful, will update if I get close to buying one.

Only remaining question is Petrol or Diesel?
I would love a petrol - but they are rare, and the TDI's ones look to have good performance, and the fuel economy looks amazing, well from the figures at least, anything else to consider?

Just check some of the usual D3 stuff. Sunroof and plenum drains do block, so make sure there are no signs of water ingress. Check the headlining doesn't have water stains and that the footwells (especially passenger) doesn't have signs of water ingress
