Towels are certainly indispensable! If only to mop up the spilt fuel. The sound deadening material layer certainly suffered in my boot from the spillage.

The towel would have come in handy muffling the Vogon poetry too, come to think of it.

Anyone ever play this game? Took me ages to finish it as a youth. It was one of my favourites back on the good old days of DOS - TRS-DOS that is!

Memories!

I remember that game but never got the chance to play it unfortunately. I had a lowly Commodore VIC20 at the time, which the game was never available for (as far as I know).

Well done Paul!

I felt a great sense of achievement when I successfully did my fuel pump. I had some complications with mine that ultimately meant the pump itself was probably ok. But with the complexity of the job, I'm still glad I replaced it!

MoLTUaE... Mark, I would never have guessed that one!

Well done! Thanks for the write up!
What a nightmare of a job!
I fear this is waiting for me in the near future. My car is still on the original pump from 2001. What a crazy design by Audi!

Beverley and I remember sitting listening to it first being broadcast on Radio 4 in 1978!
Pre-children, we had no TV (too busy socially to ever watch it) and lived in a nice 2-bed basement flat in central London (NW1) near Baker Street, Marylebone Station and Regents Park.

Congrats on completing the fuel pump job. I haven't been driving my S8 as I need to do some maintenance work to it and replacing the fuel pump is one of them which I'm not looking forward to do.

I never caught the radio show -- I was only 8 years old at the time --but I do remember it. The TV series, about 3 years later, was great though and very true to the book. You should watch it if you've never seen it. It's very dated now but I think that only adds to the entertainment. If you do watch it, look out for the Magrathea scenes, which were filmed at the Eden Project's site (a former clay pit).
