I use 'normal' Pink stuff from local motor factors

15 quid for 5 litres that needs watering down to either 50 or 33% depending on your preference or where you live. I live in teh frozen north[1] so its 50% for me.


[1] lowest I've ever seen on teh temp sensor on a car is -18!!!!!!!!

Got the ATF and G12++. Audi had it in stock. Just a quick question and it could be one that makes me look really stupid, but can you put ATF in back through the pipe it came out of. (The one that connects through the radiator).

Whilst I dont doubt you technically could squeeze it in there, the level at which you fill to is very precise and should be done from the correct fill location on the bottom of the pan. You just need to follow the famous audipages guide :

Update:

Have been waiting on some clips from Audi to reattach the aluminuim bar that attaches to the bumper, I will go and pick them up later today, I also had a mechanic come and check over my work and he told me I needed a new waterpump and viscus fan Audi only part too! Will order them today, the bill is creeping up close to £1,000, its luky I don't have to pay for labour, I am not doing a botch job though and am replacing anything and everything that needs changing and getting all progress checked over by a Jaguar specialist who has been a mechanic for over 43 years, also had the bumper done from best bodyshop in town, and they have done an amazing job. Just have to do the bonnet aswell on a one inch section, it got damaged in transit to the extent the paint rubbed off to bare metal! A8 Parts have been good about it and refunded me half the price of the bonnet. I will just get the whole bonnet resprayed now so hoping she looks a million dollars when im finished.

Amar,

You know that to change the water pump you'll have to strip down the cambelt and will need the special tools. Ian and Dave may be able to help there.

When was your cambelt done? It's usual to do the water pump at the same time so check if it was done. It's unusual for a water pump to go unless its got mega miles on it.

Yep cheers Mike, have ordered the cambelt tensioners etc.. from Audi, have also got the tool for the A8, I'm guessing your talking about the one that locks the cams in place? I'm doing the S8s CV boots today but will start on the A8 again next week..

I think the exact miles is 69k on the car, it's just it doesn't sound to healthy, cambelts never Been done so might aswell do that and the waterpump.
