Default Up round and down.

Well just arrived home safely after quite the trip up to Orkney and back again.

Ordinarily I would have headed straight up the A9 and came back the same route but this time I decided to take in some of the north west coast and also the famous Applecross pass.

What a road that was, should be on everyones list of things to do.

Just don't do it in a camper van like some tit did and made it rather a tight squeeze past each other.

In total the journey was 1700+ miles, many refills of the 8 and myself were required but I really enjoyed it and the car performed flawlessly

It's the car you need for that trip.
(someone here was trying to cop out and take a BMW 1-series! )

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

A very nice route, and on my list. I just need to decide which car to take for it. Decisions, decisions - I'm very lucky really, as both would be ideal for it ,but t'll probably not happen till next year now.

Great journey to make and fantastic photos Del, must try it myself sometime

I'll need to save up the £500 fuel fund first though

Yeah you all should do the trip. Stunning views.

Might do it on a bike next time

I have dash cam footage that I'll have a go at processing and may post it if it looks good enough.
