I try to put it all in bigger cardboard boxes.
Doesn't work but at least I've tried. SWMBO is OK about my "collections" it's the kids that keep throwing "useless" stuff away. And as you well know, within 24 hours of the bins being emptied that item is needed. Which means an expensive replacement. When/if the kids and their kids move out, I'll have a few more storage rooms.

I've been trying to make some space for when they all arrive at Christmas, but it's like clearing out the Augean Stables!

Funny old thing that! We are in the same situation. Either they have too much stuff or where they live is too small. Or both

Too much stuff for sure, the worst culprit is married, has no kids and lives in a 4-bedroom house! Though that is mostly full of his wife's clothes.........

I don't know how you guys manage. I barely have enough space for all my own 'stuff' (not to mention my ever increasing stock of computer parts and D2 spares!). I'd need a mansion if I had kids. Fortunately for me, I never had any paternal instincts.
I'm a lot more ruthless these days though; if I haven't used something in a while it has to go .... .... besides, gotta make room for all my D2 spares somehow! I need to get me a bigger house ... As the late great George Carlin put it (in his 'stuff' routine): "That's all your house is, a pile of stuff......with a cover on it." ....which is a very funny comedy routine. Worth watching if you haven't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvgN5gCuLac

Surely that all fits on one hard-drive in a hidden place?

Wrong guess
I used to have all sorts of electronic stuff but have had to throw it all away over the years. At one time I had a six cabinet valve computer in the garage and one of the old Police Control Room Mimic Diagrams. Those were the days when we fault finded down to a resistor and repaired by replacing it, rather than the modern way of swapping boards. Mind you a lot of the current gear only has one board so swapping is the only way!!! Now you have started me wondering, whatever happened to all those dodgy VHS tapes that came from Holland.
