Benefits of a cross-pipe...?
....and another question:
Anyone spliced one in to a standard exhaust? Is it all about the sound? I'm looking for a better sound, but really not at all bothered about changing the tips. Ta, Zip |

In a nutshell..
1. It balances out then pulses of the V8 making a more pleasant sound. 2. Combined with tuned primaries and secondaries it will allow better scavenging of cylinders. Good theory articles here & here. Most people have them just behind the cats. I have mine at the rear diff.

So quieter or louder...or more "woofly"...?
...the articles suggest that the system will actually be quieter. True?
Without going under the car I am assuming I have an H-pipe already...? Can't yet work out from the physics if the X-pipe should be nearer to or further from the exhaust manifold... Zip |

Yes you will have an H pipe, they are standard on the V8s
As to quieter or not then all the x pipe will do is smooth the tone as it allows the pulse which are uneven from a V8 to blend. With regard to positioning, theoretically the further from the primaries the lower the torque will peek. The nearer to the primaries the higher the BHP will be. It's all to do with exhaust gas and sound velocity. I have some more tech articles......... Here , Here 1, 2, 3, and here.
