Mostly just reassembling today. The air filter box was toast - all four screws snapped off leaving rusty stumps. Its recoverable but I didn't feel like it today so just fitted a good spare.

Coolant tank and ps reservoir

I also didn't feel like dealing with the front panel today so I reassembled the suspension instead

New upper arms

I mentioned that sellers of aftermarket / remanufactured alternators list the V6 unit as fitting the V8 when it actually doesn't. This one is a V6 alternator with a V8 rear cover so the part number looks right
Here's what happens:

Note the cooling intake is pointing at the ground when it should be pointing to the side. This won't meet up with the air scoop so reduces cooling effectiveness.

Enjoying the attention to detail. I like detail - but find it easier to cope with in a Triumph context 'cause they are very much simpler! A8 levels of detail are just plain scary!

For Mannol products, you might try contacting Yeovil Motor Factors as they seem to be stocking the entire range at present. Not sure they delivery as far as Crediton but I'm sure something could be worked out.

Oh good call on Mannol thanks. Yeovil is not prohibitively far to go and collect if I have a decent size order.

It's nice to see things going back together.

Did you solve the AC grommet design?

Sort of. I have something which does the job with which I am not entirely happy. I'll improve the design when I have more time since I need a few of them anyway, and I can retrofit it when the car comes back for phase 2 next year.

PS: The ad does say “Good condition, tidy and clean. A trace of rust.”

Looks to be an appreciating asset - 25p in 1974 would be equivalent to £2.63 factoring inflation, so for being stored under a bed for 46 years has shown a three fold increase in real value
