Default hi, it's been awhile

i can't post in the general a8 forum, but can here...? so, sorry for the intrusion here but hope someone can steer me in the right direction... i am trying to remove the solar roof...i know, it has been almost a year, but stuff happens, and here we are, i can't find out how to get the inner panel off so that i can remove the solar panel, it bends in the middle and the forward screws remain hidden, unlike the slding panel in the glass roof...how do i get this inner panel off, thanks in advance, and also help in getting admitted to the other forums would be great, cheers, kevin

slide the roof back about half way and you will see two clips about a couple of inches in from each side, which clip onto a capstain type pin thing, they are kinda spring loaded clips and to be honest cant remember whether you pinch them together or prise them apart, but when you see them it will be obvious, then just slide it back a bit, then close the roof, and tilt it, you can then remove the lining from the back of it via the tilted open part. Getting it back in again is a proper PITA buy lots of plasters and have plenty change for the swear box, and dont count on being able to pick your nose after as you will break all your nails, but hey its fun

oh and thats for a D2 S8, not sure what yours is?

Default thank you, i have the a8 d2, swb

it is the same setup, i am looking for the procedure on the bentley, but it is for the a6, i am hoping they are the same, but now i will try what you say, can't visualize this yet, though i have been looking at it for a few days now as i have just swapped out my interior for an alcantara one...i am hoping that i can just remove this interior piece and then drop in the glass roof when i take out the solar one, am afraid that the whole basic framework for the glass roof is a bit different than the solar one as there might be a track for the interior shade whereas the shade in the solar stays attached to the panel,we will see, time restraints dictated my finishing the swap before i could find whether i need to switch frames as well, and yes, it is fun, thanks again, kk
