backwards coding
I was clearing a fault code on my D3 and as I do every time with VCDS I have a play with the coding.
Checking the gear box coding it stated there was no tiptronic paddles. I changed the coding cause I had the paddles. now my paddles don't work. I'll changing the coding back to what it was but isn't that a big backwards?

Oh yeah, it is a bit weird, but not with all the components.
For example to have all the features on your headlights you have to code it exactly as it is. But with paddles as you've just realized, same as with bluetooth, it's all backwards. When I lost the driver for the phone module I looked at the coding after replacing it to make sure the coding is OK and I coded it exactly as it should be. But, non of the 3 microphones were working same as the voice control. Me, Manny and Del were sitting on it for hours to find the solution for it and only after coding it as without the bluetooth I got everything back working again. Very weird

Sorry, the above it's wrong. I've had to code is as without voice control to have VC activated. VC button wasn't working and when using bluetooth I could hear the caller, but they couldn't hear me.

I wonder if its the same as the tick boxes you get with in the hidden menu.
I got things like ACC and DAB ticked but I don't have them. 3 microphones for hands free? I know of 2. I'll code it back, I miss my paddles on the drive in to work this morning.

I use paddles every day and couldn't live without them now.
I think you are right Scott, 2 mics not 3, one is for the BT and one for VC??

Pretty sure you have 3 if you have Bose as one is for the ambient noise.
The gotcha with the BT voice control is because the '8 has the voice system for the whole MMI and not just phone, so if you code it in the phone, it confuses it.

Yes yes yes, that is the explanation I've heard last time and yes about the 3rd mic, I knew there is one more because I was looking to buy a replacement when I've had this mic/VC issue.
