Keyless entry unit can cause all manner of funnies when it gets wet and fries. Mine refused to start or open with keyless a lot, and would sometimes refuse to give the key back from the ignition barrel!

At last - a result...!

It's been over a year since I last wrote about my drowned A8 but yesterday I had a phone call to tell me that it had been fixed. This morning I collected it and it runs perfectly once more.

Eventually four auto electricans worked on it, one after the other, and it was only the final one who persevered and solved the issue and he was only able to do that after I bought replacement locks, a steering column and other parts on Ebay. After those had been fitted, the car ran but several electrical functions still didn't work. It would drive but that was about it, it was far from being 'cured'.

It was with Mike, at Priory Motors, Worksop for several months while he tried to obtain the software to link all the replaced components to the car's 'system' (forgive my lack of technical know-how). He stuck with it when others had given up and I now have a working A8 again - I am really chuffed as I was afraid it would have to be scrapped.

How much did all this cost? That's something I am never going to reveal, not even to my O/H as she'll think I've gone nuts to pay as much as I have on the car, much as she enjoys riding in it - the cost will remain strictly between me and my credit card company...

Anyway, it's nice to be back!

Perhaps the longest running fix. Much credit to you for sheer perseverance and congratulations on the result
