Default D4 Sign recognition

Havent got the car back yet but already plotting

Anyone got the sign recognition on their D4 working, I notice that it is in fact only a coding requirement if you have the prereqs of the lane camera etc

though there does seem to be a dispute about software version of a particular module, im getting all the info i can together to see if i can get it done on mine.

If you have it already what Year is your car?

I've seen lots of threads around this when I was looking to enable it on my A7, but no concrete answers...

The tech required is the camera behind the mirror, which comes with ACC or lane assist afaik, and yes, the rest should be just coding, but given its a cost option I'm left with the impression Audi made it deliberately hard to activate post build.

Kufatec claim to supply a retrofit, but it involves swapping out controllers and gets a bit expensive last time I looked.

The traffic sign recognition didn't exist in the early cars or presumably firmwares, so like me, you'll probably have to get some firmware updates under your belt before you stand much of a chance......

Watching this thread with interest though....

yes i saw the kufatec devices

they are just coding for the odb11, but a lot of people on those threads gave up and bought it (mostly A7 owners i think)

the missing coding is obviosly behind one of the pincodes required to get in to a module and then theres the problem of the hardware, kufatec offer to take your module and update it to the latest firmware so is possible on the early cars but may need a module or software of the module change.

I had a play with coding, but never got it working. To be fair I didn't try very hard because of work and home distractions

I could get the cluster to display the option, but I got an error along the lines of "missing message" so suspect other coding was needed or hardware missing

I'll need to have a play... Got a copy of the latest MMI firmware for the A7 (it's on K0770 I think at present, which is newer than the original as it added the Audi Connect stuff) and find out if it can be enabled.

What I'm really interested in is whether the new MMI version that's coming in the facelifted A7/A6 soon which has the Apple/Android screen mirroring tech is just software or hardware

I have P0900, having previously had 0770 - not sure what the differences are!?

I suspect the newer generation will be a hardware change, hence not having been rolled out to the D4 We have to wait for the D5 (and allow the normal depreciation curve to kick in)
