Red face Big Day Tomorrow...

Hi Folks,

Am feeling reflective this Monday evening and am interested in the views of fellow A8 owners on the "investment strategies" needed to keep the beasts running...

Tomorrow Volfgang (her idea...) goes in for a "mock MOT" to see if the rattly suspension will get through the test...

Two tyres are a must for the rear, back pads are low... I can run to that AND half fund our wedding do (thank God for working women. No. Not that kind of working, shall I stop digging?? ).

Steamship has been influential to me with his "what is it worth to me" strategy, so how much in maintaining our A8s are we willing to confess to on the Forum??

My car, gassed up was under £2000 and I feel I have spent "hardly owt on it". A grand. Yep, £600 for last MOT, a battery, some "vital" clay bar / cleaning stuff, some mats, oil, solar trickle charger, electric buffer... you get the picture:- NOWT!

Any more confessions?

Robert

My best strategy is buying part worns from DM tyres in Oldham @ no more than £45 for OEM rubber with 7mm on (normally Michelin PS2/3, PA4s etc). I haven't bought a new tyre for any of my three cars in over three years, which has saved me a fortune.

Oh, and getting replacement cats from one of my favourite people on here also saved me a couple of grand more...

I don't have to worry to much about the fuel, my company pay. i just claim it back.

Tyrers my cousin runs a cheap tyre shop, he quoted me £60 on Uniroyal rain max's i think.

it is the unknown, i paid 450 for back pads, disks and a caliper last week...

i need to service it, so that i reckon is going to be best part of 250 to do myself...

i might be being naive but ignoring the fuel costs, it doesn't seem to be expensive (so far) Touch WOOD

Put some money into 'safe' high dividend shares.
Shell is a good one.
