Default Bilstein Suspension

I'm working on the theory that the shocks will likely benefit from a change soon, and if I'm doing that may as well do the springs

the first choice in my head is Bilsteins. So I've been doing some digging and thought I'd share

Mines a 2002 S8 so if I understand correctly;

S8 is 25mm lower than corresponding A8?
Eibach lowering springs are circa 25mm lowering on an A8 so can be interchanged with the S8 on standard Sachs shocks or replacement Billies?

Part number is E1533-140
https://www.eibachshop.co.uk/eibach-..._p31223052.htm

Bilstein do a B12 kit for the D2, which according to their website is a package deal of the Eibach springs and B8 dampers. B8 being B6 spec but shorter to allow for the drop.

That said I can find B6 shocks listed but not B8, so I wonder what's in the kit?

I've emailed Bilstein to try and find out what's in the B12 kit exactly.

In the mean time any thoughts on the above appreciated.

Why not buy the OEMs again? They are on tradition and eBay too

4D0413031CD isn't listed on Tradition or ebay.

The B12 kit does sit the S8 at about stock ride height. Its made with B6 dampers rather than the B8s as far as I can tell - they certainly aren't any shorter than the stock Sachs units.

I am in the process of rebuilding my suspension with Bilstein B6 dampers. I am using the old springs, but have had them re-painted.

I used parts numbers 24-066785 & 24-026161 and got one pair from Autodoc and one pair from www.bilsteinsuspensionstore.co.uk (as that was the cheapest way). Cost just under £500 for all four.

Nowhere near to the point of driving the car though, so cannot tell you how they feel unfortunately!

Those are fronts. Rears are not available, but luckily don't tend to wear out.

4D0512169D if you want to try and find some - I've previously drawn a blank but its always worth poking around just in case
