Cool Rear Suspension Bonded Rubber Units

All, my A8 is a 2002 year 2.8 Quattro Sport with 80,000 miles on the clock.

My question to the Forum is, does anyone else have experience of the Rear Bonded Suspension Units deteriorating at this mileage / age and the likely cost of rectification. I have been informed at my recent MOT that the life before the Units fail the MOT is about another 10,000 miles.

Any help most appreciated.

Thank you

Default Rear Suspension Bonded Rubber Units

Hi Misty and welcome to the Forum.

Are you sure it's not the bushes that have deteriorated because I'm not 100% sure the A8 has bonded suspension units. Some MOT testers get it wrong occasionally.

I've just bought 4 rear bushes from Audi for about £90. You can probably get them cheaper from a Motor Factors.

Mike or Ian who have actually had the cars in pieces may be able to confirm whether the car has bonded units.

ps It may be worth moving this to the D2 suspension section.

If it's the Track control arm you are on about it does indeed use bonded rubber mounts. The wishbone uses bearings and all can be purchased separately although you will need a pressure ram to remove and refit the track control arm units as they are interference fit.

Items 6A and 6B for the bonded units. 4 and 5 for the bearings.

The tie rod is sold as a complete unit. HTH
This is for my 98 S8.
