Part prices in Germany
Hey guys, I have an upcoming trip to Germany soon. Just wondered if the part prices will be cheaper there compared to here in the UK... Thanks

Its a very general question, but on the whole I don't find prices in Germany cheaper, but as they often have more high spec cars and access to options / models we don't, 2nd hand there is often better access to 'tasty' upgrades etc.
But, then you consider that they only have a left hand drive community and things can get more difficult, along with issues returning things later if you find they're not as you hoped. Shipping rates across Europe should be fairly cheap these days so unless you're eyeballing something really specific that can't be sourced from here, I'd just enjoy your journey and not bother clogging it up with shopping

BMW Museum is a bit of a let down I've heard.
Head to Stuttgart and see the Merc museum. That is what a car museum should look like. And whilst there, see the Porsche museum as its also pretty bloody good. (You can even hire a 911 for an hour, but pre booking essential it turns out. Doh) The Audi forum (Ingolstadt) is good, and the factory tour is well worth booking on to. The museum has some older stuff in there including the original launch all ally looking D2 from the 1993 Japanese Motor Show. Neckarsulm is a very different experience. Much higher end, with a lot of specialist tours available. Enjoy looking at the 'fully loaded', exclusive examples of every model they have on display in the foyer. [/drool] But if you really want to see some VAG, head over to Wolfsberg and hit the VW factory over there, that's best part of a days worth on its own....

Wolfsberg, now that brings back a few memories. Had a visit there in 1959. I had been posted to 91 Car Company, RASC LAD. We worked on Beetles, Kapitans and two Jaguars. Some heavy trucks as well.
We had some German civvies working with us, they could turn a Beetle round in twenty minutes with an engine change, honestly, they were magic. They organised a Wolfsburg visit, we supplied transport and of we went in two VW Bullies. Brilliant day out but nothing like what you will see nowadays. The thing I remember is this huge press that with one "kerplump" transformed a flat sheet into a half VW Bus. Unfortunately they are all gone now, but I am still in touch with some of the widows and all the grandkids.

I found pretty much everything more expensive a few years ago and the exchange rate is down to about like that again.
