parking brake
Hi, Recently bought my 2009 A8 4.2 TDI and thought i would have a look around things and check the car out, coperslip alloys up for winter etc, noticed that somebody has been to the rear caliper handbrake motors with what looks like a hammer or such like! all the top of the motor looks battered! still works fine but wondered why they would do this? oh forgot to say its had new discs and pads all round, do you need the vagcom to reset or to work on the parking brake? many thanks Dave

The housing for the motor is plastic and has a stick on cover that looks like tinfoil, this is possibly what you are looking at

You do need VCDS or a parking brake tool to work on the rear brakes system.
