Default Towing mode

Well guys, following on from the battery issue I had, it now seems the car thinks I've got a permanently attached trailer/caravan!

This means the car is currently sat in towing mode, without the ability to turn it off in the mmi

Anyone else experienced this?

Does your car have towbar fitted? Could be a short there.

Does it have the socket for a towbar electrics fitted?

If so it could be water that is causing a short

Edit
You just beat me there Richard....

It does have a detachable towbar. I pulled the socket down today, we've had a lot of water with the rain here, but couldn't spot any signs of ingression. I guess I'll have to get a hair dryer on it or something.

Does anyone know what fuse controls the electrics going to the socket? If I can pull that, I can then quickly identify if that's the issue

A big thanks to PsYcHe who yesterday coded out the towing control ECU for me, and adjusted the parking sensor, and self levelling system to think it hasn't got a towing control unit.

The car is now back on track, but I obviously have an issue with the towing control ECU on the car, but have no idea where it is!!!!

Anyone got a clue?

Thanks

You'll find it lurking underneath the battery - remove the battery and you'll see a couple of Torx screws holding a black box to the panel underneath. It will be printed with Westfalia logos.

Under the battery... Hmm... Wonder if it's just a loose connection under there.

or water, that's where I was getting water ingress from one of the drains - a fat blue pipe just in front of the battery compartment going to the wheel arch...
