if you put 285 x 30 x 20 in to your calculator it says you need a 9.5" to 11" wheel mike which is what mine said too - not sure where you got 9" as ok for a 285 from?

Where did 285 come from? I thought we are talking about 275.
I am putting 285s on 10" rims.

£1k later and your all wrong. The 285 tyres went on fine with no problems at all. So I'm now rollin' on Michelin Pilot sports 2, will let you know what they are like compared to Verdistans but apparently, they are the best along with the Goodyear eagle F1s.
285s  Also, this Pic isn't relevant to anything in this thread, but not worth starting a new thread over eitheir so Ima dump it here. Anyway, I noticed today how my alloys look like MTM wheels with the centercaps off. Yes/No?

Also the tyre place were really surprised when balancing my wheels today as each alloy only weighes 30 when most 20s weigh 90! So lightweight too, but apparently that means they are easy to buckle.

Just an update 400 miles on, and 90mph long sweeping curves, roundabouts and many full locks and the wheels are spot on and the car handles like its on rails as I just had another track rod end changed and geometry set up last week. So to all that said 285s wouldn't fit
