Michelin PS2
Goodyear eagle F1 Assy 2
Conti Sport Contact 5's are supposed to be good too

I wouldn't consider anything else.

Yes, I am in Leamington. We should meet up sometime, whereabouts are you?

Didn't need to bother too much about a rim protector on PF 18" Avus, but now I'm FL its going to be important . Which premium brands are good for that.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Some Conti Sport Contacts come with protector and some without. Make sure you order with protector. Not sure about other brands.

Olli had some Dunlops on his at the A8Parts meet that I think he said were specifically for Jags, but they had a pretty good protection "lip", but as someone has pointed out before a wheel refurb is a lot cheaper than a new tyre if you do hit the kerb.

As Jim pointed out last weekend I need tyres/wheels with parking sensors

I have Conti Sport 3's all around on the Kahn wheels and they are indeed very good tyres although not the quietest I've had

Michelin PS2s or Super Sports for me - both have good grip to the limit (the latter are better), have very good wear, and aren't too noisy. In practice, they also provide some limited rim protection, but this isn't as good as some other tyres with a more visible ridge.

incidentally, I wouldn't normally be bothered about 1-2dB worth of noise difference between tyres but the goddamn windows are so quiet, and let so little traffic noise in when passing cars/lorries or being passed, it seems daft to then have excessive tyre noise coming up through the arches !

so a 70dB tyre seems like a good plan, which means the Goodyear Asym 2 is currently leading
