Default new

brought these yesterday for my D2 4.2 QS ..any one fitted them...cost me £70 delivered..says there smaller than the old ballast....are they easy to fit....what i mean is can any one fitt them..

XENON HID UPGRADE KIT

With Revolutionary SLIM LINE Ballasts*
(*patented)

H1 (Single pin bulbs) fitting

Replaces standard halogen headlight bulbs with XENON HID BULBS

HID is High Intensity Discharge...

.. A new form of lighting that is replacing the standard filament bulb

(XENON HID is the Pure white lights used in the new AUDI, BMW, RANGE ROVER, LEXUS ETC).

HID is becoming the new industry standard in lighting for top of the range cars.

HID produces much more light while using only 35w power (standard bulbs are 55w)

Each kit connects straight to the existing electrical connection for the bulbs.

Very simple DIY job!!

Each Kit contains:

2x Slim-line Ballasts

2x Bulbs

2x Ballast Mounting Brackets

All Connection leads required

Quality Presentation Box (with magnetic closing clasp)

(ideal for a gift)

Quick fitting guide on the box

Full, Concise instruction book with warranty card

Every one of our kits is covered by a no-quibble 12 months warranty

on Ballasts and Bulbs !!

Our unique kits come with new revolutionary "SLIM-LINE BALLASTS" which are at least 60% smaller than a standard HID ballast, making them far easier to mount securely in the engine compartment, where space is a premium.

The SLIM-LINE ballast contains a completely new Digital electronic system making these by far the most reliable system on the market!

The light produced is far brighter but by also being a higher K rating than halogen bulbs is produces a far stronger reflection from road markings and signs etc, which will stand out a lot more!

Important details about the K rating on our kits:
I always get asked about the "K" rating on the bulbs, so I'll highlight a few points on it...

What we advise..

6000K is about pure white and the strongest light, venture below this and it turns yellow like normal halogen bulbs.

8000K will give you a Nice hint of Xenon Blue

Anything above this starts to go dark blue through to Violet.

Important thing's to remember..

The lower the number the better strength the light will have..

pure white is approx 5900k ..

6000k will have a slight hint of blue -

below that will be orange above it will be blue

Which ones did you buy? About 6000k is usually best, which did you go for? They are a doodle to fit mate, you should be able to work it out just by looking at them and around the light connectors in the engine.

Those ballasts look pretty small. I'd say they should go on the back of the covers no problem and should take about 30 mins to install. Just make sure you don't touch the bulbs!

well i fitted them (well actually my 17 year old boy did as hes a trainee grease monkey),,wow is all i can say but....when we looked at the bulbs allready fitted the bottom big bulb doesnt work on either side..

Also the kit (so they say) is an upgrade but it only replaces the driving lamp bulb...im confused because surley the kit should be for both bulbs because when i hit the main beam i get the old yellowy bulb..

Ive also had to take out the sidelight bulb because it looks stupid with a really nice white light and a yellow glow next to it...is this right

can some one give me some advice on resolving this problem..the kit says its for H1 HID upgrade espeaceally for my 98 reg D2 4.2 QS

You have got what you paid for. That is a replacement for your dipped beam. I have exactly the same situation. Nice white dipped beam and a yellow main beam. You will need to fit another HID kit to replace the main beam. Although if you do that you will not be able to flash your headlights as HIDs take a couple of seconds to warm up.

To loose the yellow side lights switch the bulb for an LED cluster bulb.
