Thanks.
The bolt I took out was very loose in the hole and looks about M6 size so I'll be prepared to deal with whatever I find.....

As MJ states, the bracket is threaded and (with luck) the M6 bolt with washer should just go straight in. The m6 bolt is overall 35mm in length (30mm threaded portion).

Looks like the same bolt to me, just the one that came out of HP's has had a nut put on the end because the threads are shot on the bracket i reckon.
I think i replaced mine with a stainless bolt.

M6 Stainless bolt with thread tape to fix yours HP.

I can supply said bolt and washer in A4 Stainless, i'll even throw in a spare washer and nut

Very shot, it was literally waving around so the hole must have been drilled out.

Speed nut solution I think, assuming one can be fitted. If not some sort of cavity fixing.
Edit: Seems they are called chimney nuts, lug nuts or spire clips if properly threaded for bolts. I've got some, but I think they are M5 or M4, just need to find a suitable bolt.

There's no doubt that this is an essential fitting to pull the scuttle trim firmly into place. Without the bolt in place the scuttle top edge springs out from the glass leaving a large gap for all the seed and leaf cr@p to get under.

Chimney nuts have more of a thread i think, spire clips have a couple of "tags" for self tapping type screws. Have a look for rivnuts too.

Exactly, don't know why I hadn't seen it before.

One of these should do the job (maybe with a washer) when I get the new trim from our sponsors:

Yes, I've got those on both my original and replacement panels.
They clip onto these lugs, one of mine was bent down (sorted now) so not connected and the other wasn't engaged properly either:

It's been drilled out big time, sizeable hole about 9mm wide!
And the plate is too big to fit a speed nut, it won't reach in far enough.
Any suggestions? This is what it looks like:
