The easiest rear brake upgrade is the B7 (I think) RS4 discs and calipers. It's fairly straight forward as you only need to drill out the hubs an extra 2mm to mount the calipers and fit the handbrake cables from an A8L.

Your car is a '97 so you have the steel hubs. I have a set of steel hubs pre drilled ready for the RS4 calipers. They're a bit tatty now but perfectly useable if you're interested.

Good luck with it
But now i have bought RS6 brakes...
And RS4 i think is only 324mm right?

And who is it in the Poll above that have fit RS6 rear brakes?

FL = Facelift model
PF = Pre Facelift model

No not quite - he was talking about the D2 I think not the D3 shape -

The D2 Original Shape A8/S8 - (called 4D by Audi)
Pre Facelift - 1994 to Sept 1999
Facelift - Sept 1999 to Nov 2002

D3 Next Shape A8/S8 (Called 4E by Audi)
Pre Facelift - Nov 2002 to 2005
Facelift - 2005 - sept 2007
Further Facelift Sept 2007 to 2010

D4 Current Shape A8/S8 (Called 4H by Audi)
2010 to now

If your S8 is a 97 then it is a D2 PF

But i don't think that RS6 rear brakes will fit D2 facelift either, but maybe it fits D3
But D3 have electric handbrake so maybe no one have tested to uppgrade the rear brakes on that one.

I have the c6 brake upgrade on my c5 ( ft and rear)and yes the c6 rear brakes have the electronic handbrake attached but I have movit calipers with audi discs and pads with a bracket made to attach the handbrake. Martin at unit 20 fitted mine but I don't think he is using that now as he is doing a Loba version.
