Not true, I'm saving lots more now.

But this numberplate (try to justify every spend) would be a lifetime investment, is it still available? And how would we go about transferring docs/money?

Hi Amar,

Will let you know in the next day or two if its still available, half tempted myself, but as he is extracting more than he wants for the plate on fitting some bespoke bedroom wardrobes for me,(his own buisness)I cant justify it either.

It did look good on his e39 M5 thou, but since he no longer has that car,and isnt into personal plates,he gets fed up keeping it on the yearly retention.

Could pm you his mobile number, and you can sort the rest out from there?

Cheers

Rich

Tell you what Rich, if I sell my car this month then I will get in touch. Very interested...but if someone else comes along please don't hold it for me. I'm not to fussed about the actual numbers/letters just want a short plate. Have seen a few around but would rather buy from a forum member as it's scary handing over thousands to a complete stranger

Thanks Rich, do you have any pictures of it on a car? Never brought a numberplate before. I'm guessing I'm just going to get some paperwork. Have to pay a yearly fee if not assigned to a car...

Here's all the info you need on personal plates:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ates/index.htm

Basically what you're buying is the certificate of entitlement held by the seller on retention (which must be in date to be valid!) - he needs to fill out the box on the form asigning it to someone else, bit like a V5c.

It's been about 3 years since I swapped ours last, but from memory the fee you pay to put on retention includes the cost of putting it on a new car, but better check the small print as if it doesn't that'll be another £150 or so on top.
