Only modification I made is increased mounting diameter as its bigger (obviously). Running cables back through original whole at the back and I'll try and find small rubber grommet to cover the hole.

Mounted on my spare door cards and fits same as original.

Haven't tested yet, having a day off tomorrow so I'll update on sound quality tomorrow.

All fitted and works a treat. Still need subwoofer for bass but sound is a lot crisper and even without bass boost get decent bass at lower volume.

Freds D2 6.0 Litre W12 in Holland has a neat aftermarket stereo system upgrade including a sub woofer in the spare wheel well and a nice neat dab radio control unit in the cubby normally used for cup holding - pics attached

My setup involved replacing the double DIN unit with a Sony XAV-601BT unit. Paid for the local stereo shop to make the surround. Similar in looks to Ricky D's unit but mine has the essential rotary volume control. I simply will not buy a stereo that doesn't have one.

Standard speakers front and rear and I'm sure that the sub in the rear shelf is still being driven. My subwoofer lives in the boot and basically takes up 80% of the space. Current amp is Vibe 8K (recommended by Ian Pinder of Iceman fame) although I've had JL Audio 1000-1 and then a DLS amp from Sweden in there before. Custom-made sealed box of inch-think MDF (or 18mm to you young things) paired with an Orion 15 sub which weighs a ton. OK, probably about 65Kg all in...

Plans:

[1] drill a massive hole or remove the blanking plate where my non-existent ski hatch is in order to let the flavour flood out...
[2] Replace inner boot lights for the umpteenth time as they tend to crack
[3] Remove and re-fit rear shelf with blind as I seem to have blown it out of its correct position.

I bet you've added B&O logos to them though?

Door speakers now done. In the end I decided on a set of Rainbow components.

2 reasons for the choice

1. They promise to be slightly sweeter treble than the focal I usually use
2. I keep meaning to try Rainbow speakers and in 20 years of messiing around with car audio never have
3. They are available in both 4" and 5" woofer sizes

Its a surprisingly small range of speakers that come with 4" these days.

For the rear doors

For the front doors

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rain...-component-set

I had to make MDF adaptors for the rear, the fronts I retained the plastic bass tubes and just trimmed approx 4mm of extra space to the mounting holes

SO far very happy with the results, much improved clarity through treble/bass and midrange. Even with them still being powered from the stock headunit

next stop amplification

Always had a softspot for Genesis amps and managed to track down a Genesis Profile 5 which looks like it will be a perfect fit in the area the stock CD Changer used to sit
