IT, is that because the B&O shows up every fault, or the compression used by the mp3 format as my (was) mega buck domestic system does?

How was it with 'high bitrate' recordings?

Just out of curiosity, not eying up D3 S8's - Honest

If I had to try and put my finger on it, I suspect the tiny popup tweeters on the dash really contribute to the high notes, whist really substantial looking midrange speakers half way up the front door cards carry some serious vocals.

Bose has neither of those. Bass is non directional, and Bose carries it ok, but the separation is poor in Bose. On b&o the bass may not be any better ( sure it is though ) but it's the fact that the mid and high range is so universally clear that means you can really enjoy the bass.....

Mp3 compression is obvious on some poorer ripped stuff, and notably even some cd's are poorer quality than others. You need good quality worse to really enjoy it for sure...

Well I checked today.

I got just over 500 range, as stated "pootling" along the A1 near Stevenage at a steady indicated 80 (probably somewhat less). I had already done about 50 miles from filling up.
(not using cruise - not working at all now )

RPM is 2600 at an indicated 70 and 3000 at an indicated 80, near as dammit in both cases.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....

Checked this morning on the M8: 2600 rpm at 70 mph, but mine's been remapped, so might be slightly different.

Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

My S8 showed a range of 580 miles the last tank of regular unleaded I filled up with. This climbed to 670 on a run to Brittany, Northern France. I filled up last Tuesday with 5 miles range showing, and 595.7 miles on my trip meter.

So I can safely cover over 600 miles to a tank. In the past with 0 range, I've covered over 15 miles before my nerve broke. I was on cruise a lot, set at 65 mph. Engine rpm is approx. 2750 @ 70 mph.

Nope. Exactly the same. South African spec D2's are pretty much on a par with the UK. Trans code and rear diff have the same codes too.

A remap won't alter road speed versus engine rpm, even if you had a TCU map too. A TCU map will only alter the shift points, the overall gearing will remain the same.
