Picked up another...
D2
 A 98 4.2 quattro sport. Servotronic, cruise, auto dimming side and interior mirrors, Bose etc... and most importantly LPG (the reason for the purchase). 120k miles, engine/box is very strong and the car pulls like a train in tiptronic, it really does, suspension is super tight. Vag com showed no faults before and after test drive. Temp stays bang on at 90. Idle was very nice and didn't jump about or drop, I was really surprised. I think its a good'un. MOTs verified mileage and cambelt done last year along with oil cooler and the famous gearbox seal, recent service & 11 months MOT. Didn't want to push the seller to much on the price as it was her husbands car who had just passed away and her circumstances didn't seem ideal. So I wouldn't say I got a bargain but I didn't have the heart to push her more on price although I'm certain I could have got it for less. I would say the price was fair and less then advertised for. Faults: Climate bulb blown - Easy fix, done it before and have a bulb for it. Centercap missing - Have one of them as well Seats - Drivers looks particularly worn, will replace. One side of the rocker cover gaskets looks like it has a slight leak, will replace that soonish. Rear view mirror hanging down So nothing major and apart from that it really is very very good to drive, after I finally worked out how to fill up LPG. Another slight problem now is, I need another bloomin' set of US lights  Only just got back as it was a 2 hour drive over to Southampton to pick it up and then I forgot the cash so had to drive home and then back again  Only pics I have here:   Anyway, I better get off to bed. 8 or so hours driving even in a D2 does get pretty boring, especially in this weather.

Rear PDC too...
Cashmere pearl metalic by the looks.. Nice, quite rare.. Interior looks well soiled, Wonder if James still has his PF recaros from his old 8, I bet their in good nick.... Or you could change it to black....  Any particular reason for the purchase?

Looking at the front seats made me doubt the mileage but the MOT's backed it up, they have worn much worse then my old 8 and that had 220k. How did you know about PDC? But yeah it does have it
 Reason for purchase? Doing more miles. Its basically replacing the 335 as the economical car. Seems a good time to do it as fuel prices on the way up. Will I take it to Germany? Hmmm... I'll ask James.

Its still listed on Autotrader, and you can clearly see the factory sensors in the rear bumper
The cream interiors do wear badly, even at just over 100K if they aren't looked after, so im sure the mileage is genuine... 120K car on a DTD though, hope its already had the gearbox done or you might want to put some pennies to one side f you intend to keep it longer tem....

Thanks for the heads up Ian and yeah I brought it with the possibility of a gearbox recon sometime in the future, I will most likely get it done. Not sure weather I should do a oil/filter change? Conflicting reports on this now. Haven't bothered on the S8... Hopefully its already been changed but the lady didn't know and I got all the info RE cambelt etc... from invoices. The box is just as smooth as the S8s and has less mileage, is the S8s box more reliable?

Ok, so I'll ask the same question everyone else must be wondering - Why not just take the money and convert the S8
 £2500 ish I'm guessing to buy to the car, plus insurance, tax, repairs and budget £2K for a gearbox recon at some point.... Seems it would be a heck of a lot cheaper to just buy petrol to me....

Needed a 2nd car, I have valid reasons buy don't want to go into them right now as my gearbox just packed up on the Fosse way 15 mins ago (S8) gutted isn't the word.

My DTD was going strong at 150k, though I'd had it serviced by guys who knew the method at 90k and 130k. The hunting and thumping was still better than when I got it at 90k

It is kinda spooky ain't it. I posted asking if the S8 gearboxes are a little stronger and less then an hour later my S8s gearbox packs up.
 Ian, I know it would have been cheaper to buy petrol in the S8. But I needed a second car for reasons I can't be asked to go into and this A8 fit the bill nicely, I have thought it through and also I just didn't want to LPG the S8 or park it up in places where the A8 will sometimes have to visit. I have been searching for a second car for sometime now, MK4 Golfs etc... but I ended up with this A8 and I'm happy with my choice. Its going to come in very very handy around the house and also for family to use. Currently use a BMW 535 V8 for that stuff which I will probably sell soon and will cover the cost of the A8
