First thing I did today was have it cleaned by the local hand car wash guy inside and out (really nice guy), he does a good job. Only uses a sheepskin washmitt no blade etc... so I'm happy with him doing the A8. He looked over the car and saw how smooth the engine was and instantly offered me what I paid for it, and told me to let him know when i sell.
Full health check & road test by Ben on this today, engines solid as I thought, nothing wrong with it. Suspension all perfect which makes sense as it feels super tight, the odd leak from common D2 places as seen on Audipages. Getting that sorted of course along with a full gearbox oil change. Also booked it in with Autoglass tomorrow to get the rear view mirror stuck on properly. Loving the servotronic. How can this be retrofitted into the S8?

The temp insurance I have runs out on the 30th so that should be my priority but here I am, spent most of today working on this A8, yes. The mods have already started! Well this was more of a need then a want but will get pics up tomorrow.

I really couldn't get on with the interior in the A8, it was very worn as I'm sure you will all agree. Yuck.
 So I've been spending a few hours a day completely ripping out my interior and replacing it with a new mint black sport one, I got it a a price I couldn't refuse and it also adds blinds to my A8 which I really wanted. Now the seats came from a 1995 car, I already knew that the side air bags wouldn't work as the early ones didn't have any, but I didn't care much about this but there were a few other things that I hadn't accounted for. First problem was, the new glovebox from the 95 car wasn't a direct swap with my 98, Audi had decided to change the latch for some odd reason so I decided to use my old one. This picture shows what it looked like after its first coat of matt black spray paint,  Another coat of paint and now installed, that looks good enough to me   My next problem was with the two rear Bose speakers, the 95 car didn't have Bose so I needed to reuse my cream speakers, so I took them out, popped the covers off and sprayed them to...  Had to modify a few other bits as well, for example the cars from 97 onwards all had a button to lock and unlock the doors by the drivers side, the doorcard from the 95 car didn't have this so I had to modify that, and it works a treat. Next thing to do is to transplant the third level brake light over to the black parcelshelf, the 95 didn't have one. Progress so far is all seats are out along with the parcel shelf and old seatbelts. New door cards and new black carpet is in. New parcelshelf and new seats to go in. Need to wire up the rear blind and then gliptone clean and protect the new leather! Comments appreciated, noone at home is intrested in my hard work  Edit: Something intresting I discovered, ZF made the relay for my Servotronic. I thought they only did gearboxes!

Thanks Mike, I will look into the details for that now but I will deffently try to make it, I'm not actually insured on the A8 at the moment so cannot drive it, my dad's going to insure it for me as family will be using this one more then me, my brother in law might drive it up for me and the silver one should be attending to...

Cracking effort, well impressed - Yes, the 1995/1998 differences have caught us out too before...
I modified the latch on the 1995 glovebox using the 1998 parts from what I recall, and then there should be a different lower B pillar part as you will have boot release/alarm buttons on the 1998, but neither in 1996 I reckon... Good results with the paint though, I dont think I'd have tried that, but then I have a pile of black stuff to go at Door cards from 1998 will likely have puddle lights / rear red lights in them, which 1995 wont have IIRC, but they're not essential. It depends how 'perfect' you want it to be. A8parts had loads of preface black last time I looked, but they've moved premises since then.... Crack on, and keep us posted... You're making more progress than I am with the starter motor...

Black interior is finally all in and worth every penny if you ask me. All memory, leccys and heated seats are working and complete.
 Before  Afters   The third level brake light now wired up, its now been fabric painted in black to match the 95 parcel shelf and installed.  I think its a pretty highly specce'd pre facelift now as on top of being sport spec and having Bose, Auto diming mirrors, Servotronic, Cruise, Headlamp wash it now also has blinds. Just need to put some resistors in to fool the side airbags now then do the rear blind, it has been wired up now at the back by the parcel shelf, just need to work out how to make it work when pressing the switch, have a rough idea but if someone could give me a little more info that would be great.

Looks much better....
The rear airbags can be coded out I'm 99% sure as we've looked at this before, then the airbag module wont look for rear seat ignitors, and it wont flag up errors... I can look in more detail for you, but wont be for a few days... If you get chance to look on vagcom at what the softcoding is currently on the airbag module for your car it would help
