Maybe we should have a thread recommending tunes for stereo testing?! My favourites are Propellorheads album Decksanddrumsandrockandroll which has great stereo imaging tests plus some serious bass - also has the updated On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Fav vocal track with some tough subtle bass to manage is by Wasis Diop called African Dream. On a £20k setup I was totally blown away! Got a budget setup at home with epic Monitor Audio Silver RS6 floor standers, Nad amp and an old Marantz CD67SE but would love to spend proper money on hi-fi |

Firstly, I want to clear up Adrian's concern regarding the 'extra strain on the gearbox'... The PES Supercharger systems is a result of over 2 years of design and road testing using data logging software. Our vehicles are tested under a wide variety of driving conditions ranging from "easy" daily commutes to severe track conditions. We also test our systems in a broad range of temperatures, from bitter winter cold to blazing summer heat. Testing is also conducted using both Dynojet and Mustang dynamometers. We are so confident in the reliability of the system that we offer a one year, unlimited mileage warranty. This kit is now 5 years in production, there have been many installs across the world without a single gearbox or any other OEM component failure (that we are aware of) that could attributed to the supercharger gains. Secondly, we've just recently installed had a A8 4.2 Multi Port (D3) kit installed by TE Motorsport in Norway and we have another going in over the next few weeks by AmD Essex / DNA Tuning (this is a trade car). Below is a short video supplied by TE Motorsport, a snap of the engine bay and dyno chart gains 475hp (+140) and 425lb-ft torque (+123). Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD32jSriY1w We also have a kit for the A8 4.2 FSI (D4) that has previously produced gains of 500hp (+155) and 457lb-ft torque (+133), however over the last year we've upped from 5psi to 7psi on this kit producing 524hp on an S5 (my car which has the exact same FSI engine), again with total reliability. Below is a dyno plot for the 5psi kit. I am now in a big push to offically launch PES across europe. The first to become an A8(D3) and A8(D4) kit is going to be grabbing themselves a bargin! If interested contact me either via www.audisuperchargers.co.uk or matt@audisuperchargers.co.uk |

Hey matey - lots of D2 owners here who might be more tempted in your offer too
The main issue I have with the gearbox isn't the likelihood of it failing - you can potentially hit the limiter in 5th gear and it's revving like crazy as it is. To make it usable it'd be handy if the box was a 6 speed to make it more refined on a run. D2 boxes are its known weakness, whereas the D3 on seem more robust and run more sensible gearing. As with any mod that adds power, if you use it to its full potential all of the time you'll put more load on other components. The D2 S8 isn't quite RS6-bad as far as its ability to cope with more power, or even the power it has as standard! Doesn't help that Audi have never specified a service schedule for its auto boxes..... Adrian |

Thanks for the response Adrian m8. Our kits aren't really about pushing top end, they're more about how quickly you can get there but I take your point if 5th is already maxing out; although I don't think most would be worried about that unless running the autobalm day in day out
Of course as you suggest there will be additional strain on other components however the key is how much and can these components handle the strain. The testing/experience we have on these kits and level of gains is that the Audi components such clutch and gearbox are pretty damn robust. Saying that if you're intending to spend all your time 8/10ths upwards of course you are now talking the equivilant of track car extremes and as we all know that takes far more looking after. Bottom line, general spirited road use and the odd track days is where these kits excel We can provide kits for the D2 although the gains are lower and I didn't believe there would be much of an uptake on them with the cars also being a lot older now. However saying that if the potential is there we can bring them in, if anyones interested just let me know. |

Interesting what you say about the B&O. If I were to get an S8, the B&O would be on my wishlist. I seem to remember seeing a youtube vid of (I think) a bit of Fifth Gear. They took a DJ and plonked him in a pair of Astons, one with the B&O and one with something different. He gave the nod to the B&O, but the "test" (which he had come up with) consisted of ramping up the volume bit by bit and seeing how clear the stereo stage remained/how muddled the elements in the track became. From what I can make out, ceramic brakes are not something to chase. I've seen a few second hand cars that proudly claim to have had them replaced under warranty (why would you need to?) and they cost a fortune if you need to replace them yourself. |

Re the V10, it would need to be a centrifugal twin system, very expensive and I've not seen any on the 8's. We specialised in roots charges and couldn't wouldn't get on to fit. I do know of some centrifugal specialists that might be prepared to develop a kit if there was enough interest though, let me know. |

Shame about the chargers for V10 though.... I have considered an RS6 V10 twin turbo swap. But it's cost prohibited. |
