Cool On the Red Rose Diner train do you mean? We still haven't done that yet ... been meaning to do it for years.

That's bad timing. We could've met up while you're over here but that's about the same time we'll be setting off for Edinburgh.

The talk was brilliant! A thoroughly enjoyable event. Well worth the trip!

The talk was held in one of the lecture theatres at Napier University (about a 400 seater theatre and filled to capacity):

I have missed this but Bitmain has released overclocking firmware for S9 at the end of May. Only just tried it this morning on my 13.5 TH/s as still had not installed Braiins firmware on this one and it works as advertised 15.5TH/s in + 2TH/s mode. Not checked power consumption yet. No HW errors, it will probably do 16TH/s with some custom tweaking on Braiins firmware but this was a lot easier without messing with SD card.

Edit Checked voltages, with this firmware chips are running 9.1V, the one with Braiins is 8.7-8.9V so I expect this Bitmain firmware to have higher power consumption

One of the L3+ control board failed, tried to reload firmware from SD card without success so used board from D3 and flashed L3+ firmware on it so it's working again. Found Blissz firmware with devfee pools removed so need to install it on other L3+s that are still running stock or Blissz firmware with dev fees https://byjyww.bn.files.1drv.com/y4m...0-nodevfee.tar

I didn't realise the control boards were physically the same.

I might try that S9 firmware update when I have a spare few minutes. Thanks to the warm weather I'm down to a single S9 now, and the only reason that's still running is because it lives in one of my customer's server rooms.

I think A3 is the same as well.

Profitability-wise, I suppose now is probably the right time to be buying and mining, but it's just too damn hot to mine right now.

New S17e and T17e coming out on Monday, T17e of little interest but S17e looks like slightly overclocked S17 Pro model permanently in Turbo mode. If it's less than 3k USD I might consider buying one but seems unlikely considering prices of Pro models and that it will be shipping before the Pro models.

My cheap electricity tariff also runs out end of September

Hmmm, might consider an S17e too if they're cheap enough. But to be honest, I'll probably stick with what I have for now (5 x L3s, 2 S9s and 2 x GPU rigs). All of my rigs have been switched off throughout the warm weather because none of them are particularly profitable but, as the weather is beginning to cool now I'm turning some of them back on to the heat the house. They may not earn a great deal but they still earn more than any other form of heating.

I just keep buying a little more BTC whenever there's a dip now instead, which can be more profitable than mining if you time it right. The bad news is I think it might have dipped under $10K for the last time (I was holding out, hoping it might get as low as $7-8K again). However, I think the good news might be that pressure is building for another big bull-run soon.
