Default Wheel spacers, extended bolts and locking wheel nuts?

Morning All,

I'm interested in getting some hubcentric spacers for the rear wheels and wondered what you guys have done with regards to getting extended bolts and keeping locking wheel nuts.

Ideally I would get the H&R or Eibach units that bolt directly to the car and then you bolt the wheel on to those, but they come in a minimum of 20mm each side but I only want 10mm or 15mm.

Can you recommend somewhere that does 10mm or 15mm longer bolts and the best way to keep my wheels safe with locking nuts?

Cheers
Rich

I have 20mm H&Rs all round on mine. I can't stand the loose sort with longer bolts as they make putting the wheel on such a chore, although the tool below might help with that. I have 12mm loose ones on my racecar, but that has a stud conversion so its far easier.

I would go 20mm to keep it simple but I'm worried there will be too poke with 9x20's with 255/35's. 10mm is probably perfect and 15mm at a push.

Sorry I was assuming you meant the 18" Avus

Calculations show the 9x20s will sit 7mm further out than the Avus, and given how tight mine are I doubt there is that much room with 20mm. You'd need 13mm spacers to keep them in the same place as mine so I reckon you're spot on with 10mm front and 15mm rear.

I can try mounting one of my FE 20s on my 20mm spacers tomorrow, and see where they sit. The extra 1/2" of width on the D3 20s won't make much difference on tyre clearance.

Looking at ebay you can get complete sets of longer bolts including lockers, as long as the radius seat is actually the right one for VAG wheels. A lot of the time people try to pass off Porsche radius fitment as the same but it isn't, so something to watch out for. I had a hell of a time finding proper radius nuts for the racecar but the situation may be different with bolts.

Edit - duh reading fail! only just spotted you said rears only I'll try front and rear just for info.

Thanks MikkiJayne I should have clarified my setup to avoid confusion.

It's cold out there so don't feel obliged if you're busy or otherwise.

Did you buy longer locking nuts as well?

I've got the 20mm bolt-on H&Rs so no need for longer bolts. Tbh I don't bother with locking bolts on anything since I assume the scrotes can get them off without a key as easily as I can. All they do at that point is add hassle for me every time I take the wheels off.
