Strensham was a stop I was thinking of originally and would work well, would be a slightly early lunch (12ish?) for me but not a problem. Might then stop at Tibshelf on the M1 instead and hope to rejoin somewhere after that, presumably you'll stop for a couple of hours at Lakeside?

All, change of lunch venue proposed...

Since the Lakeside is too far North for Neil to join us by lunchtime (after his terrible chore of driving S and RS models all morning ) I've found the Wharf Tavern in Hockley Heath instead. This has easy access from the M40 J16 Southbound and and M42 J4 (for M40 Northbound), and a nice big car park. Assuming the weather is pleasant it also has a canal-side garden and it's family-friendly.

2390 Stratford Road, Hockley Heath, Solihull, B94 6QT

Dean - it looks like a fairly straightforward journey West for you via the A45, albeit heading completely the wrong direction for the meet itself!

Pete - is this close enough to Hopwood for you to not need a stop beforehand? I think a comfort break for everyone at Woodall would probably be quite welcome which fits your plan, but I don't think we need to stop at Strensham now.

What do we think?

No problem for me. A few extra miles but I'm not bothered about that.

I think that could work for me. It's only a little further on than where I was looking to stop and probably (very likely) better than a motorway service area!

I think we'll wait and see what the consensus is. The first location on the Derby/Leics border works well for us to meet up for lunch.
As noted earlier we would probably NOT convoy from there but wend our way cross-country to Durker Roods.

M40/M42 is a bit near home and on a Friday afternoon would then be a long trek in queues of traffic so wouldn't get our vote, however nice the canalside location.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I think that it would be best to stop off lower down so that Neil can join us; even though he isn't in a D2!

Ill adjust our start time accordingly to be there about 1 ish. If Bert lets us know where and when he wants to join, Bristol? Gloucester Services? Then a few (White, Black, Purple, Dolphin Grey) can arrive together. The Irish Green Pearl, Red, Black, Agate Grey and ??? can meet us there? Thoughts.

Unhelpfully I also don't know what colour the D5 will be either, apart from that I'm a mine of useful information. . .
