^^^^ What Nick said ^^^^

We all know what you want to do.
I think you just need that little bit of reassurance.
And the vote should give you it.

That's no excuse. I have 3, and hope to keep them all.

I think MJ and Nick summed it up. The D2 is unique and should be kept 'as is'. The D3 is a damn fine car (having driven it), but there are still lots around that you can add to your signature at a later date. So keep the D2 and sell the D3.

Is this the D2 I posted up in the “spotted online” section last year by chance?

I’d definitely be looking to keep that over a D3 if it is.

If they are both used as occasional cars then definitely keep the D2 because as you say yourself it's much more fun to drive and looks better too. But if you need to use it daily then surely the D3 would be the better option to keep, the only problem being finding a buyer who will respect the D2...

Lose the D3, I only occasionally miss my D3 S8, I imagine I would feel differently if I had lost a D2, they will be rocking horse poo in about 2-3 years IMO

I think given your past history of cars you'd regret selling the D2, you might even end up becoming Roberto v2

This is possibly the most the one-sided poll ever on this forum !!

Although one person has voted to keep the D3...... But just one.. !

Wasn't me, I don't think I will ever be able to sell my D2. There's just something really good about them.

I agree with the consensus. I love my D2 and glad I got in now as I also agree that in 5 years only lots of looking and top dollar will get you a decent, unusual one. You have a great D3 but let's be honest, there's loads of them as you know, you've owned most of them!

I potentially have a problem too. I'm very unexpectedly up for a job which will mean my anticipated 6-7k miles a year will be closer to 26-27k a year and as tempting as it would be, I would never use my D2 for that. But I wouldn't get rid of the D2, even though I wouldn't have anywhere to put it, I'd rather move house! And it would send me back to Sootchuckerland. Secretly I'm hoping they give the job to the other bloke I've been shortlisted with!

This is a safe place right!?

My vote was maybe miss-paced, I have owned D2, D3, D4 and driven a D5 - my view is simple, in a non-sentimental way I found my D3 4.2TDI better as an every day car in every way than my D2 S8! And that was 10 years ago, before the D2 turned 20

That said, is this actually going to be an every day car Ian? If your going to use the Q7 day to day and keep this for fun (or sentimentality, or as an "investment"), then I may change my vote and make it a clean sweep

Is it due to space or you want to use the funds elsewhere?

Can you not SORN the D2 and only tax/insure it when you need it? Find friend with space so the wife thinks it's gone
