Default Help with front discs please

Hi

I have a local private source for some new Audi A8 front discs, part number 4E0615301A

They are 360mm and I am trying to find out if they are suitable for my 2007 D3.

Tried measuring my existing discs, which I would say are nearer 330 mm but its hard to measure accurately. None of the dealers I have contacted so far will tell me the correct part number, Can anyone help please?

Rgds

Rick

That's an old part number, since replaced by 4E0615301P and intended, by the looks of it, for Teves calipers on models PR-1LL and 1LM. So if either of those codes apply to your car then they should be fine.

However there are many disc options on the A8 incl both 321 and 323mm, as well as ones larger than 330mm!!

Ring a different dealer, or quote your PR reference, and I can look up what you should have.

Thanks Adrian, excuse my ignorance but what is a PR reference?

The part number I have quoted is from the Audi packaging, they have been lying around in the workshop of someone I know.

As a principal, is it possible to fit bigger discs using an existing caliper ie: achieving s simple increase in brake surface area or will new calipers always be needed?

Rgds

you'd need new calipers . check your build sticker for the 1LM or 1LL

Many thanks PsYcHe.... checked my build sticker(learning here) and cant see a code for 1LM or 1LL, closest on the sticker is 1LG and 1KE and 1XX in section 5 for optional equipment, what do those codes indicate please?

Looks like 1LG is it - Teves calipers and 323mm discs by the sounds of it.

If so, the disc part number should be 4D0 615 301J

If you want cheap discs, give Murray's Direct a call - I just did all 4 discs and pads on my A6 3.0 quattro Sport for £210 delivered. Bosch front discs, febi-bilstien pads and Zimmerman rear discs. Very pleased with them - pedal now much firmer than it was.

I wouldn't try fitting those discs - they are unlikely to clear the calipers even with such a small difference.

If they're free to you, stick them on ebay and put towards the cost of the right ones

no worries chap - quote your VIN if you contact Murray's and they can confirm if the part number i've given is correct. I'm new to this Etka lark!

Should be pretty cheap - front discs on mine were £37+VAT each and they were about the same size.
