It's about the best i've seen on the market reasonably. Admittedly I tend to discount and non B&O on the basis that to get me to trade up it's probably the biggest thing on the D3's that i'd like.....ventilated seats would be nice and I do like the idea of a heated windscreen.

Most the interesting toys are in the D4, but most of those tend to be 3.0 TDI and still at the over 10K rough budget.
A8 D4 is a beautiful, comfortable chariot from going A to B but about as much driving fun as a milk float in my experience..... If my budget would stretch, I'd go try a D4 S8, purely because the 0-60 in 4.1 has got my interest up, but best part of 30K and still depreciating heavily puts me off.

The 4.2 Tdi D4 was rapid in a straight line (800nm!) but i just couldnt love it....

The 0-60 on mine and Ray's D4 A8L 4.0T's is 4.4 secs so quite entertaining for a limo!

Not sure if it is interesting to you or if I want to sell it but I still have Pauls S4 cabriolet http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14329 .

I have kind of grown to like it, it passed MOT today, I do not need 3 cars and this is the only one to have some value if I sell it on.

My son's 56-plate B7 S4 Avant which he traded in a while back is still untaxed so either unsold or being driven by someone in the trade, probably around Leeds.
High-spec having a football "personality" as first owner. I can PM you the reg if interested and it would help locate it.

Bloody hell Neil, you've let the cat out of the bag.
Mine isn't stock though, it has had a little tweak and I'm waiting to get it on rollers for a proper check.
Remember Brian said I vanished during the convoy run at Falmouth.
It does tend to leave your brekkie behind.
I'll be able to have some fun in August.

So, is 4.4 seconds to 60 not quick enough for you Ray?

Some quick replies to some nice ideas:

ainarssems and Andrew - Given my B6 V8 just broke itself, I'm sworn off them for life now, so a B6/B7 isn't completely out of the window - but another S4 is.

Sarg - I confess, If I were ever to stray into the Merc stable, that thing would certainly tempt me but I know zip about mercs and couldnt tell a good one from a bad one if I was sat inside it, plus its just a touch pricier than I want to be I think....

I've looked at S1's, A2', A3, S3, A4 and A6's and basically they all have crap specs on them, especially the older budget ones.

So really, I'm right back round to square one where actually, an S8 makes a ton of sense.....

Fair enough, I just thought you might still have that normally-aspirated 4.2L V8 itch.....
