Default 2001 side mirror chrome covers..available?
hi,
apart from changing the whole unit, is there a cheaper solution to cover the side mirror housing for FL models?

The chrome casings are separate, so you can replace just those.



I replaced the body-colour casings on a previous A8 I owned with chrome S8-looking casings.

It was several years ago so I'm not sure where I purchased them from, but I do remember they came from Germany, possibly from this seller:

Depends how good you need them to be. I replaced mine with new ones (they're aluminium BTW) and the old ones are for sale. Nearside is good; offside is scratched.

Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

thanks for the reply.
from what i have read the facelift cars also had the side mirror housing tweaked, the casing available on ebay fit pre-facelift but no the FL's.

have i read it correctly? you have replaced existing aluminium casing with new ones?
if so have you listed the items yet, so i can have a peek?

Ah, yes the A8 I had was indeed a PF.

They look the same as my FL S8's mirror casings, but admittedly I've never looked at them that closely or had the need to remove/replace them.

They're listed on here somewhere, but I've not got around to putting them on ebay yet.
