Default changing steering wheel to multifunction

i have the old steering wheel that looks alot like the old audi 500 one.i am wanting to upgrade it to the newer looking ones and i was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to get a multifunctional steering wheel to work on the car with tiptronic gear change buttons aswel.

i have read through other posts and seems like it is possible and found a pdf for a c5 A6 but i assume A8's are differant and i cant follow that document.
i dont think i have the multifunction controller as there are no buttons on the steering wheel. i also have the 4 speed tiptronic so i am not sure if it can be done with that gearbox.

C5 and d2 a8 share exactly the same steering wheels and wiring connections.

There is no technical reason I can see why you can't retrofit tiptronic to a 4 speed box. The mfsw controller just latches a contact closed for change up, and a separate contact for change down - exactly the same as the tiptronic shifter, which is where you would take the wiring feed from

oh cool.thanks. so a a8 without MFSW wont have the controller so i will need to buy one or does it have one already for the manual mode on the shifter?.
and would a steering wheel from a C5 A6 or FL A8 be a dual stage airbag or single?
so if im sounding stupid but i rather ask then just jump ahead and start doing it.
