Rusty hubs?
A few months ago, after my wheel came off on the M6, I had new new discs and pads fitted just in case.
But they were fitted by a local garage (who also checked for any other damage) and were obviously not premium quality - as soon as they got wet, the hubs were covered with a thin layer of rust. Very unsightly if you're a bit OCD about your car. So, whilst I was putting on my winter wheels, I wire-wooled the rusty hub and (I hope you're sitting down) painted the hub in silver smooth Hammerite! And I cleaned and touched up the paint on the callipers too. I wish I'd taken a 'before' photo, but I didn't. Just the 'after' photos attached (and, yes, I know I need new wheel centres for my winter wheels and they need a wash!). I'm really pleased with the result!

Hope Hammerite will last a couple of seasons
This is why I choose my alloys of such a design that callipers, hubs and all that stuff is completely invisible.

Great idea! I may copy you next time the wheels are off.
I hate the look of rusty hubs. |

I've done this before with VHT paint on new discs - I also masked off the braking surface and painted the edges of the discs
More recently discs have been supplied from a number of sources already treated - Zimmermann (old A6), Meyle (on the S8) and Black Diamond (my BX)

It makes a big difference I think removing the rust.
I keep meaning to do mine but I never have the time but I have the time I lack the motivation. I remember reading a thread about this with the RS3 and they was up in arms about the rust on their new discs. Even to the point of going back to Audi and demanding new discs. In the end they cleaned them up and used some POR15.
