Existing aerial for DAB
I'm retro fitting DAB and I haven't bought an aerial yet. However i was thinking could an existing aerial be used for DAB, such as my redundant analogue TV?

I'm sure I've seen a posting recently about a unit that makes that easier to do, so I guess in principle yes.

I was messing with the '8 this afternoon and when switching between FM, MW and TV I could hear a relay click from the back, so I suspect the individual aerial amplifiers are only powered when needed? For simplicity I'll buy an aftermarket active aerial and try to hide it somewhere.

I think I read on this forum that all rear windows are the same, but there are different type of amplifiers of course. Have you checked your amplifier? If it doesn't have the DAB connector you may be able to buy new amplifier. I bought one recently for about £60 I think.

Dab aerial
Hi Mattylondon,
An alternative you might like to consider is an external dab aerial which just plugs into your dab tuner. Dabonwheels sell a mag mount one for £20ish. Cable runs along rear screen gap and into boot if you mount just behind bee sting stubby eom aerial. I have this, see my sig pic and get great reception. Cheers Richard Ps use number plate sticky pad, cos mag mount and aluminum don't attract!
