Default My New D4 V8T Photo's and spec etc.

Afternoon Chaps
The rain finally gave out for a few hours today so I managed to get my new baby clean and shiny for some photos!
Hope you like her
Details as follows 2015 car, 2,500 miles when I picked her up.
She is a SWB Sport spec 4.2V8T diesel
Colour is Monsoon Grey (appropriate in this weather)
Black Leather with the Silver roof lining.
Full sports pack which gives over the SE things like 22 way adjustment Comfort sports seats perforated diamond stitched leather. Parking camera's with birds eye view. Bose Audio. Matrix LED Headlights and better alloys etc.

Upgrades fitted 20 x9" t10 parallel-spoke alloys diamond cut finish.
Massage Front Seats
4 Zone Climate
Ioniser for the air.
UV Twin Pane Heat insulating Glass
Homelink Garage /Gate opener
Heated Windscreen
Heated Steering Wheel
Parking system with Assisted Parking (yet to try this )
Active Lane Assist (haven't tried this yet either )

She drives beautifully and is such a step up from the 3 litre which I dearly loved for the last two years. I was genuinely sad to see her go and I have to say she was still immaculate and running superb I just really had a hankering for more power. I started looking at S8's and a: couldn't find one I liked for the right Money and b: got fed up of dealers wasting my time. I nearly took a punt on a new one which was offered for £58,000 bog standard (no wonder they depreciate so quickly in the first year) But after trying the V8T D I was blown away by the smoothness and power of this motor... and my head took over as this was really the sensible decision for me as an everyday car. After all I have my TVR for the weekend and sunny days
Anyway I hope you like her I was dubious about the colour and the dark interior, but I am converted, when she is cleaned up and sat in the sun she looks stunning imho .
First thoughts/findings ...
Economy so far and she isn't really run in yet is early 30's I did see 40 coming back up the M1 at a steady 70. But in economy mode she gets into 8th so damn quickly ! I reckon you can make extremely rapid progress and never rev above 2k revs!
I like the subtle changes they made to the facelift and as you go round when cleaning you find even more than the obvious where they have changed lines and profiles etc. and they made the boot larger which always annoyed me after the D3.
The Audi connect works I stuck a PAYG sim in that and it works really well, creates a wifi hotspot in the car, you can send your destinations to the car or pick them off your address book using the iPhone app, very clever, although I suppose this is old hat to anyone with a new TT!
Then there is the noise the V8 makes not at all diesel like, silent most of the time, till you poke it then a deep growl lovely
Oh and the Matrix lights are stunning they work so well.
My daughter loves the massage seats, I suffer with my lower back and I had them on an AMG merc which was great so I think they will get some use!
Only really 4 days in with her but I am seriously in love!
All the best Glyn

The Business End

Fantastic Glyn - congratulations that's stunning!
Can't we tempt you down to the annual meeting this June to show it to everyone?
I will be interested to see how the fuel economy vs performance pans out in use, sounds like a very interesting engine to consider!

Very nice!

Will be interested to hear how you get on with the toys you haven't yet tried, having had an "extended demo" recently I got to play with a couple of options mine doesn't have.

The Active Lane Assist I found disconcerting at best, I struggled with the way the weighting of the steering changed as you drove within the lane and I felt it was better switched off!

Self parking can be fun, works better for parallel parking than in bays, where it needs a couple of shunts to get into a space you could do in one yourself. The best approach is to place both hands behind your head for maximum passenger screams!!!!!!!

Very nice , 2500 miles very fresh indeed , on the under bonnet pic i see there is big beams that cut through the air boxes both sides , wonder if thats for extra strength or something ?
Does it have that night vision thing ? PaulRs did show me on the d4 he has now ....... is it something you use or just for bling !

The trick here is not really to drive it, but rest your hands on the wheel and accept that it knows best. If you try and drive, you're fighting it, and it does feel like something's terribly wrong with the steering rack

'night vision' - The only 'safety device' that you have to manually fumble on the lower dashboard to enable each time you remember you want it = just for bling

Works better in winter where the differential temperatures are higher - In peak summer when clothed pedestrians / dogs are approaching the ambient air, its not so clean visually (but never failed to work I might add).

Really interesting in the rain too, as rain 'paints' everything the same temperature and its a bit of a wash out....
